1

A ten minute foot soak in warm water to soften nails before cutting nails straight across. If this is too difficult a large emery file may be useful.

2

Treat callus and corns with a pumice at the end of a bath or shower. A sandpaper style foot file used gently works well on dry skin.

3

Use a moisturiser regularly on dry skin especially the heels. Not between the toes as these should be kept dry to avoid Athlete’s foot.

4

For those with Diabetes or poor circulation regular exercise is important to aid blood flow. Wear comfortable shoes to walk around the house and avoid sitting cross legged. It’s advisable to check feet daily. A small mirror placed on the floor allows the soles of the feet to be examined.

5

Wear non elasticated socks if suffering with swollen feet and avoid tight fitting footwear.

6

If after all this attention you still have troublesome corns, then foam, gel or felt pads with the hole in the middle may give relief. Avoid medicated corn plasters, as they may contain an acid which can burn healthy skin.

7

If mobility is limited don’t attempt to do everything in one go. A little attention often, is key to keeping on top!
